     我的这本书将从他们的一些鲜明的特性出发进行阐述。首先我将用

Colleges and universities differ in many ways from other organizations

unique characteristics. In some portion of Chapter One, I make use of 
the
traditional practice of comparing colleges with business enterprises, 
becaus

many of our ideas about organization and management come from studies
of business firms. Identifying some of the differences between the two 
types

of organization helps illuminate why a comprehensive understanding of
college and university functioning remains elusive and why their 
management
and governance are so problematic.
