　　当地时间9月11日20:30(北京时间12日8:30)，美国总统布什就恐怖袭击事件发表电
视讲话。下面是布什的讲话全文：
　　“成千上万的生命在这种可怕的事件之下消失了。我们感到非常的悲痛。他们想让
我们感到害怕，但是他们失败了，彻底地失败了。”
　　“自由在今天早上遭到了不敢露面的懦夫的攻击，自由将会得到捍卫！”
　　“我要向美国人民保证，联邦政府的所有资源都已调动起来了，他们正在协助地区
当局挽救生命和帮助这些攻击事件中的受害者。”
　　“不会出错。美国将找到并且严惩那些对这种懦夫行径负责的人。”
　　“我已经同副总统、国防部长、全国安全委员会和我的内阁会谈了。我们采取了一
切适当的安全措施，来保障美国人民的安全。我们国内和世界各地的军队目前出于高度
戒备状态，我们将采取必要的安全措施来继续你们的政府的职能。”
　　“我们同国会的领袖和世界的领袖接触过，并向他们保证我们会竭尽所能来保护美
国和美国人。”
　　“请美国人民与我一道，向那些奋不顾身抢救我们的同胞的勇士们表示感谢，向那
些遇难者及家属表示哀悼。”
　　“我们伟大的国家正在接受严峻的考验。不能有任何失误。我们要让全世界人民知
道，我们能够经受得起这次考验。”

　　"Freedom itself was attacked this morning by faceless cowards. And freed
om will be defended.
　　"I want to reassure the American people that the full resources of the f
ederal government are working to assist local authorities to save lives and 
to help the victims of these attacks.
　　"Make no mistake, the United States will hunt down and punish those resp
onsible for these cowardly acts. "I've been in regular contact with the vice
 president, secretary of defense, the national security team and my cabinet.
 We have taken all appropriate security precautions to protect the American 
people. Our military at home and around the world is on high alert status an
d we've taken the necessary security precautions to continue the functions o
f your government.
　　"We have been in touch with the leaders of Congress and with world leade
rs to assure them that we will do whatever is necessary to protect America a
nd Americans.
　　"I ask the American people to join me in saying a thanks for all the fol
ks who have been fighting hard to rescue our fellow citizens and to join me 
in saying a prayer for the victims and their families.
　　"The resolve of our great nation is being tested. Make no mistake. We wi
ll show the world that we will pass this test.
　　"God bless."
