General Information on Electrical Engineering Department
     Electrical Engineering Department, founded in 1952 and
called Motor Department early, is one of the departments first
established in universities of China. It was confirmed in 1998 as a
doctor's degree authorized unit of the first-class discipline of electric
engineering. It consists of a Postdoctoral Mobile Station of the
Electrical Engineering discipline, four Master's Degree Programs,
and three Doctoral Degree Programs of the first-class discipline of
electrical engineering(including Electric Machinery and Electric
Apparatus, Electric Power System & Automation and Power
Electronics & Drive).
     Now, there are seven teaching and research sections, twelve
teaching laboratories and training centers and two research institutes
in the department. The total staff number is 128. Among them, there
are 24 professors(including 11 doctoral supervisors) and 44 associate
professors and senior engineers. Its totally enrolled full-time students
amount to 1200 persons, among which there are 1050
undergraduates, 150 doctoral candidates and master's candidates.
     During the past 50 years since the founding of the department,
teachers of the Electrical Engineering Department have been
carrying forward and developing the glorious tradition of "Being
strict in qualifications for graduates; making every endeavor in
training students" established by our predecessors. They have made
great contributions to the development of HIT, the national
economic construction and advance of science and technology in
their teaching and research work. Up till now it has graduated many
leaders represented by Li Changchun, famous entrepreneurs
represented by Geng Zhaojie, academicians represented by Feng
Xisheng and lots of builders and successors in every realm of
national economic. It has undertake many important construction
projects for national defense and industrial construction. After
continuous improvement and development, its whole academic level
and scientific research capability enables its discipline to rank among
the most advanced of China. A good many research awards have
come up to advanced world and state standards in the fields such as
step-motor system design, drive and control, brushless DC torque
motor and angle-measuring with inductosyn, the analysis and design
of magneto electrical machine system, the technology of harmonic
restrain of variable frequency power, the technology of electric drive
control, the analysis of stability of power system, optimization of
power net, automation of power system dispatch and FACTS
technology.
     The Department of Electrical Engineering has completed over
200 research projects and won 100 awards of the Scientific and
Technique Advanced found by Chinese government, province and
national department respectively. Among these awards the servo
system of the theodolite’s dome won the top national award of
scientific and technological advance, the remote controlled wall
climbing robot for inspection won the third-class national award of
scientific and technological advance. There are 1300 papers
published and 105 papers collected in the international Four Indexes
in the past 5 years. Also there are over 30 excellent teaching
achievements in the department.
     Now, it has a great many outstanding young and middle-age
members who have rational structure of knowledge, age structure
and professional and technical post structure. With their enterprising
spirit and devotion, these members will continue the concerted
struggle, it is expected that Electrical Engineering Department will
certainly forge ahead toward the great goal of a first-rate discipline
in the country and a well-known discipline in the world.
