                  SDK for Linux?
                    Overview
The ViaVoice Software Developer's Kit for Linux (Beta) and ViaVoice 
Run Time Kit for Linux (Beta) provide the necessary tools to develop
applications that incorporate speech recognition using the Linux for 
x86s operating system. It includes a robust set 
of application programming interfaces (APIs) that allow Linux applications 
to access speech resources. 

The initial beta version of the ViaVoice engine and SDK for Linux is
 available in U.S. English. In addition to being available to download, 
it will also be distributed on Red Hat's Linux Application CD. In the coming 
months, IBM plans to extend its 
ViaVoice for Linux offering to include a variety of languages, additional 
content and extended distribution channels, including Caldera Systems.
