  BSD家族(Berkeley Software Distribution)

    BSD 4.4(Lite) -> 386BSD 0.1(obsolete) -> NetBSD/FreeBSD/OpenBSD 

    NetBSD     http://www.netbsd.org    Current 1.3   (multi-platform)
    FreeBSD    http://www.freebsd.org   Current 2.2.6 (x86 platform) 
    OpenBSD    http://www.openbsd.org   Current 2.1   (multi-platform)

    以上均为Free的，with complete source code, FreeBSD和OpenBSD都是从
    NetBSD分家的，均为*BSD家族, 据一些FAQ说鼻祖NetBSD作Server很好.

  Linux家族的常见Distribution

    RedHat     http://www.redhat.com   Current 4.2   (Alpha, SPARC, x86)

   (好象用Debian的不多, 装了一下，感觉也很不错，安装方便，而且软件也较多,
    有300多M packages, 其deb包很有些RedHat的rpm味道) 
   

  GNU也在开发自己的OS -- Hurd, Current 0.2
   
   GNU搞了个 GNU's Not Unix的递归，这回OS又搞了个间接递归 :-)
  
   Hurd = "Hird of Unix-Replacing Daemons"
   Hird = "Hurd of Interfaces Representing Depth"
