the driver is tulip.o , but the driver in 5.0 and 5.1 is broken and versy
slow.

Please grab a tulip.o from RH 5.2 system , and replace
/lib/modules/preferred/net/tulip.o 
with it( first backup it)

and
# depmod -a
then
# modprobe tulip

if you fail to do that , compile a new kernel or just that driver .

And if I am right , 2 or 3 days ago there are some letters concerning about
this driver , try search it with "tulip"
