撒母耳记下

10:1   此后，亚扪人的王死了，他儿子哈嫩接续他作王。
In the course of time, the king of the Ammonites died, and his son Hanun 
succeeded him as king.


10:2   大卫说，我要照哈嫩的父亲拿辖厚待我的恩典厚待哈嫩。于是大卫差遣臣仆，为他
丧父安慰他。大卫的臣仆到了亚扪人的境内。
David thought, 'I will show kindness to Hanun son of Nahash, just as his 
father showed kindness to me.' So David sent a delegation to express his 
sympathy to Hanun concerning his father. When David's men came to the land of 
the Ammonites,


10:3   但亚扪人的首领对他们的主哈嫩说，大卫差人来安慰你，你想他是尊敬你父亲吗？
他差臣仆来不是详察窥探，要倾覆这城吗？
the Ammonite nobles said to Hanun their lord, 'Do you think David is honoring 
your father by sending men to you to express sympathy? Hasn't David sent them 
to you to explore the city and spy it out and overthrow it?'


10:4   哈嫩便将大卫臣仆的胡须剃去一半，又割断他们下半截的衣服，使他们露出下体，
打发他们回去。
So Hanun seized David's men, shaved off half of each man's beard, cut off 
their garments in the middle at the buttocks, and sent them away. 


10:5   有人告诉大卫，他就差人去迎接他们，因为他们甚觉羞耻，告诉他们说，可以住在
耶利哥，等到胡须长起再回来。
When David was told about this, he sent messengers to meet the men, for they 
were greatly humiliated. The king said, 'Stay at Jericho till your beards 
have grown, and then come back.' 


10:6   亚扪人知道大卫憎恶他们，就打发人去，招募伯利合的亚兰人和琐巴的亚兰人，步
兵二万，与玛迦王的人一千，陀伯人一万二千。
When the Ammonites realized that they had become a stench in David's 
nostrils, they hired twenty thousand Aramean foot soldiers from Beth Rehob 
and Zobah, as well as the king of Maacah with a thousand men, and also twelve 
thousand men from Tob. 


10:7   大卫听见了，就差派约押统带勇猛的全军出去。
On hearing this, David sent Joab out with the entire army of fighting men.


10:8   亚扪人出来，在城门前摆阵。琐巴与利合的亚兰人，陀伯人，并玛迦人，另在郊野
摆阵。
The Ammonites came out and drew up in battle formation at the entrance to 
their city gate, while the Arameans of Zobah and Rehob and the men of Tob and 
Maacah were by themselves in the open country. 


10:9   约押看见敌人在他前后摆阵，就从以色列军中挑选精兵，使他们对着亚兰人摆阵。

Joab saw that there were battle lines in front of him and behind him; so he 
selected some of the best troops in Israel and deployed them against the 
Arameans.


10:10 其余的兵交与他兄弟亚比筛，对着亚扪人摆阵。
He put the rest of the men under the command of Abishai his brother and 
deployed them against the Ammonites.


10:11 约押对亚比筛说，亚兰人若强过我，你就来帮助我。亚扪人若强过你，我就去帮助
你。
Joab said, 'If the Arameans are too strong for me, then you are to come to my 
rescue; but if the Ammonites are too strong for you, then I will come to 
rescue you.


10:12 我们都当刚强，为本国的民和神的城邑作大丈夫。愿耶和华凭他的意旨而行。
Be strong and let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. 
The Lord will do what is good in his sight.' 


10:13 于是，约押和跟随他的人前进攻打亚兰人。亚兰人在约押面前逃跑。
Then Joab and the troops with him advanced to fight the Arameans, and they 
fled before him.


10:14 亚扪人见亚兰人逃跑，他们也在亚比筛面前逃跑进城。约押就离开亚扪人那里，回
耶路撒冷去了。
When the Ammonites saw that the Arameans were fleeing, they fled before 
Abishai and went inside the city. So Joab returned from fighting the 
Ammonites and came to Jerusalem. 


10:15 亚兰人见自己被以色列人打败，就又聚集。
After the Arameans saw that they had been routed by Israel, they regrouped.


10:16 哈大底谢差遣人，将大河那边的亚兰人调来。他们到了希兰，哈大底谢的将军朔法
率领他们。
Hadadezer had Arameans brought from beyond the River ; they went to Helam, 
with Shobach the commander of Hadadezer's army leading them. 


10:17 有人告诉大卫，他就聚集以色列众人，过约旦河，来到希兰。亚兰人迎着大卫摆阵
，与他打仗。
When David was told of this, he gathered all Israel, crossed the Jordan and 
went to Helam. The Arameans formed their battle lines to meet David and 
fought against him.


10:18 亚兰人在以色列人面前逃跑。大卫杀了亚兰七百辆战车的人，四万马兵，又杀了亚
兰的将军朔法。
But they fled before Israel, and David killed seven hundred of their 
charioteers and forty thousand of their foot soldiers. He also struck down 
Shobach the commander of their army, and he died there.


10:19 属哈大底谢的诸王见自己被以色列人打败，就与以色列人和好，归服他们。于是亚
兰人不敢再帮助亚扪人了。
When all the kings who were vassals of Hadadezer saw that they had been 
defeated by Israel, they made peace with the Israelites and became subject to 
them. So the Arameans were afraid to help the Ammonites anymore.
