约翰福音

5:1   这事以后，到了犹太人的一个节期。耶稣就上耶路撒冷去。
Some time later, Jesus went up to Jerusalem for a feast of the Jews. 


5:2   在耶路撒冷，靠近羊门，有一个池子，希伯来话叫作毕士大，旁边有五个廊子。
Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool, which in Aramaic is called Bethesda and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades. 


5:3   里面躺着瞎眼的，瘸腿的，血气枯干的，许多病人。（有古卷在此有等候水动
Here a great number of disabled people used to lie--the blind, the lame, the paralyzed. 


5:4   因为有天使按时下池子搅动那水，水动之后，谁先下去，无论害什么病，就痊愈了）。

5:5   在那里有一个人，病了三十八年。
One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. 


5:6   耶稣看见他躺着，知道他病了许久，就问他说，你要痊愈吗？
When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, 'Do you want to get well?' 


5:7   病人回答说，先生，水动的时候，没有人把我放在池子里。我正去的时候，就有别人比我先下去。
'Sir,' the invalid replied, 'I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.' 


5:8   耶稣对他说，起来，拿你的褥子走吧。
Then Jesus said to him, 'Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.' 


5:9   那人立刻痊愈，就拿起褥子来走了。
At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked. The day on which this took place was a Sabbath, 


5:10 那天是安息日，所以犹太人对那医好的人说，今天是安息日，你拿褥子是不可的。
and so the Jews said to the man who had been healed, 'It is the Sabbath; the law forbids you to carry your mat.' 


5:11 他却回答说，那使我痊愈的，对我说，拿你的褥子走吧。
But he replied, 'The man who made me well said to me, `Pick up your mat and walk.'' 


5:12 他们问他说，对你说拿褥子走的，是什么人？
So they asked him, 'Who is this fellow who told you to pick it up and walk?' 


5:13 那医好的人不知道是谁。因为那里的人多，耶稣已经躲开了。
The man who was healed had no idea who it was, for Jesus had slipped away into the crowd that was there. 


5:14 后来耶稣在殿里遇见他，对他说，你已经痊愈了。不要再犯罪。恐怕你遭遇的更加利害。
Later Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, 'See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.' 


5:15 那人就去告诉犹太人，使他痊愈的是耶稣。
The man went away and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well. 


5:16 所以犹太人逼迫耶稣，因为他在安息日作了这事。
So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jews persecuted him. 


5:17 耶稣就对他们说，我父作事直到如今，我也作事。
Jesus said to them, 'My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working.' 


5:18 所以犹太人越发想要杀他。因他不但犯了安息日，并且称神为他的父，将自己和神当作平等。
For this reason the Jews tried all the harder to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God. 


5:19 耶稣对他们说，我实实在在地告诉你们，子凭着自己不能作什么，惟有看见父所作的，子才能作。父所作的事，子也照样作。
Jesus gave them this answer: 'I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. 


5:20 父爱子，将自己所作的一切事指给他看。还要将比这更大的事指给他看，叫你们希奇。
For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, to your amazement he will show him even greater things than these. 


5:21 父怎样叫死人起来，使他们活着，子也照样随自己的意思使人活着。
For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it. 


5:22 父不审判什么人，乃将审判的事全交与子。
Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, 


5:23 叫人都尊敬子，如同尊敬父一样。不尊敬子的，就是不尊敬差子来的父。
that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him. 


5:24 我实实在在地告诉你们，那听我话，又信差我来者的，就有永生，不至于定罪，是已经出死入生了。
'I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. 


5:25 我实实在在地告诉你们，时候将到，现在就是了，死人要听见神儿子的声音。听见的人就要活了。
I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. 


5:26 因为父怎样在自己有生命，就赐给他儿子也照样在自己有生命。
For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son to have life in himself. 


5:27 并且因为他是人子，就赐给他行审判的权柄。
And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man. 


5:28 你们不要把这事看作希奇。时候要到，凡在坟墓里的，都要听见他的声音，就出来。
'Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice 


5:29 行善的复活得生，作恶的复活定罪。
and come out--those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned. 


5:30 我凭着自己不能作什么。我怎么听见，就怎么审判。我的审判也是公平的。因为我不求自己的意思，只求那差我来者的意思。
By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me. 


5:31 我若为自己作见证，我的见证就不真。
'If I testify about myself, my testimony is not valid. 


5:32 另有一位给我作见证。我也知道他给我作的见证是真的。
There is another who testifies in my favor, and I know that his testimony about me is valid. 


5:33 你们曾差人到约翰那里，他为真理作过见证。
'You have sent to John and he has testified to the truth. 


5:34 其实我所受的见证，不是从人来的。然而我说这些话，为要叫你们得救。
Not that I accept human testimony; but I mention it that you may be saved. 


5:35 约翰是点着的明灯。你们情愿暂时喜欢他的光。
John was a lamp that burned and gave light, and you chose for a time to enjoy his light. 


5:36 但我有比约翰更大的见证。因为父交给我要我成就的事，就是我所作的事，这便见证我是父所差来的。
'I have testimony weightier than that of John. For the very work that the Father has given me to finish, and which I am doing, testifies that the Father has sent me. 


5:37 差我来的父，也为我作过见证。你们从来没有听见他的声音，也没有看见他的形像。
And the Father who sent me has himself testified concerning me. You have never heard his voice nor seen his form, 


5:38 你们并没有他的道存在心里。因为他所差来的，你们不信。
nor does his word dwell in you, for you do not believe the one he sent. 


5:39 你们查考圣经。（或作应当查考圣经）因你们以为内中有永生。给我作见证的就是这经。
You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, 


5:40 然而你们不肯到我这里来得生命。
yet you refuse to come to me to have life. 


5:41 我不受从人来的荣耀。
'I do not accept praise from men, 


5:42 但我知道你们心里，没有神的爱。
but I know you. I know that you do not have the love of God in your hearts. 


5:43 我奉我父的名来，你们并不接待我。若有别人奉自己的名来，你们倒要接待他。
I have come in my Father's name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him. 


5:44 你们互相受荣耀，却不求从独一之神来的荣耀，怎能信我呢？
How can you believe if you accept praise from one another, yet make no effort to obtain the praise that comes from the only God ? 


5:45 不要想我在父面前要告你们。有一位告你们的，就是你们所仰赖的摩西。
'But do not think I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses, on whom your hopes are set. 


5:46 你们如果信摩西，也必信我。因为他书上有指着我写的话。
If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me. 


5:47 你们若不信他的书，怎能信我的话呢？
But since you do not believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say?'
