第十六章                         CHAPTER 16
  1 亚伯兰的妻子撒莱不给他生儿女   1 Now Sarai Abram's wife bare him no
．撒莱有一个使女名叫夏甲、是埃及 children: and she had an handmaid, an Egyptian,

  2 撒莱对亚伯兰说、耶和华使我不   2 And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the

  3 於是亚伯兰的妻子撒莱、将使女   3 And Sarai Abram's wife took Hagar her maid
埃及人夏甲给了丈夫为妾．那时亚伯 the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years

  4 亚伯兰与夏甲同房、夏甲就怀了   4 And he went in unto Hagar, and she

  5 撒莱对亚伯兰说、我因你受屈、   5 And Sarai said unto Abram, My wrong be upon
我将我的使女放在你怀中、他见自己 thee: I have given my maid into thy bosom; and
有了孕就小看我、愿耶和华在你我中 when she saw that she had conceived, I was

  6 亚伯兰对撒莱说、使女在你手下   6 But Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy maid

  7 耶和华的使者在旷野、书珥路上   7 And the angel of the LORD found her by a

  8 对他说、撒莱的使女夏甲、你从   8 And he said, Hagar, Sarai's maid, whence
那里来、要往那里去．夏甲说、我从 camest thou? and whither wilt thou go? And she
我的主母撒莱面前逃出来。         said, I flee from the face of my mistress
                                 Sarai.
  9 耶和华的使者对他说、你回到你   9 And the angel of the LORD said unto her,
主母那里、服在他手下。           Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself
                                 under her hands.
 10 又说、我必使你的後裔极其繁多  10 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, I
、甚至不可胜数。                 will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it
                                 shall not be numbered for multitude.
 11 并说、你如今怀孕要生一个儿子  11 And the angel of the LORD said unto her,
、可以给他起名叫以实玛利、因为耶 Behold, thou art with child and shalt bear a
和华听见了你的苦情。〔以实玛利就 son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because
是　神听见的意思〕               the LORD hath heard thy affliction.
 12 他为人必像野驴．他的手要攻打  12 And he will be a wild man; his hand will be
人、人的手也要攻打他、他必住在众 against every man, and every man's hand against
弟兄的东边。                     him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all
                                 his brethren.
 13 夏甲就称那对他说话的耶和华为  13 And she called the name of the LORD that
看顾人的　神．因而说、在这里我也 spake unto her, Thou God seest me: for she
看见那看顾我的麽。               said, Have I also here looked after him that
                                 seeth me?
 14 所以这井名叫庇耳拉海莱．这井  14 Wherefore the well was called Beerlahairoi;
正在加低斯、和巴列中间。         behold, it is between Kadesh and Bered.
 15 後来夏甲给亚伯兰生了一个儿子  15 And Hagar bare Abram a son: and Abram
．亚伯兰给他起名叫以实玛利。     called his son's name, which Hagar bare,
                                 Ishmael.
 16 夏甲给亚伯兰生以实玛利的时候  16 And Abram was fourscore and six years old,
、亚伯兰年八十六岁。             when Hagar bare Ishmael to Abram.
