23:1 撒拉享寿一百二十七岁，这是撒拉一生的岁数。
And Sarah was an hundred and seven and twenty years old: these were the year
s of the life of Sarah.

23:2 撒拉死在迦南地的基列亚巴，就是希伯仑。亚伯拉罕为她哀恸哭号。
And Sarah died in Kirjatharba; the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan: and
 Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.

23:3 后来亚伯拉罕从死人面前起来，对赫人说，
And Abraham stood up from before his dead, and spake unto the sons of Heth, 
saying,

23:4 我在你们中间是外人，是寄居的。求你们在这里给我一块地，我好埋葬我的死人，
使她不在我眼前。
I am a stranger and a sojourner with you: give me a possession of a buryingp
lace with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.

23:5 赫人回答亚伯拉罕说，
And the children of Heth answered Abraham, saying unto him,

23:6 我主请听。你在我们中间是一位尊大的王子，只管在我们最好的坟地里埋葬你的死
人。我们没有一人不容你在他的坟地里埋葬你的死人。
Hear us, my lord: thou art a mighty prince among us: in the choice of our se
pulchres bury thy dead; none of us shall withhold from thee his sepulchre, b
ut that thou mayest bury thy dead.

23:7 亚伯拉罕就起来，向那地的赫人下拜，
And Abraham stood up, and bowed himself to the people of the land, even to t
he children of Heth.

23:8 对他们说，你们若有意叫我埋葬我的死人，使她不在我眼前，就请听我的话，为我
求琐辖的儿子以弗仑，
And he communed with them, saying, If it be your mind that I should bury my 
dead out of my sight; hear me, and intreat for me to Ephron the son of Zohar
,

23:9 把田头上那麦比拉洞给我。他可以按着足价卖给我，作我在你们中间的坟地。
That he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he hath, which is in the en
d of his field; for as much money as it is worth he shall give it me for a p
ossession of a buryingplace amongst you.

23:10 当时以弗仑正坐在赫人中间。于是，赫人以弗仑在城门出入的赫人面前对亚伯拉
罕说，
And Ephron dwelt among the children of Heth: and Ephron the Hittite answered
 Abraham in the audience of the children of Heth, even of all that went in a
t the gate of his city, saying,

23:11 不然，我主请听。我送给你这块田，连田间的洞也送给你，在我同族的人面前都
给你，可以埋葬你的死人。
Nay, my lord, hear me: the field give I thee, and the cave that is therein, 
I give it thee; in the presence of the sons of my people give I it thee: bur
y thy dead.

23:12 亚伯拉罕就在那地的人民面前下拜，
And Abraham bowed down himself before the people of the land.

23:13 在他们面前对以弗仑说，你若应允，请听我的话。我要把田价给你，求你收下，
我就在那里埋葬我的死人。
And he spake unto Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying, 
But if thou wilt give it, I pray thee, hear me: I will give thee money for t
he field; take it of me, and I will bury my dead there.

23:14 以弗仑回答亚伯拉罕说，
And Ephron answered Abraham, saying unto him,

23:15 我主请听。值四百舍客勒银子的一块田，在你我中间还算什么呢，只管埋葬你的
死
My lord, hearken unto me: the land is worth four hundred shekels of silver; 
what is that betwixt me and thee? bury therefore thy dead.

23:16 亚伯拉罕听从了以弗仑，照着他在赫人面前所说的话，把买卖通用的银子平了四
百舍客勒给以弗仑。
And Abraham hearkened unto Ephron; and Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver,
 which he had named in the audience of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekel
s of silver, current money with the merchant.

23:17 于是，麦比拉，幔利前，以弗仑的那块田和其中的洞，并田间四围的树木，
And the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the
 field, and the cave which was therein, and all the trees that were in the f
ield, that were in all the borders round about, were made sure

23:18 都定准归与亚伯拉罕，乃是他在赫人面前并城门出入的人面前买妥的。
Unto Abraham for a possession in the presence of the children of Heth, befor
e all that went in at the gate of his city.

23:19 此后，亚伯拉罕把他妻子撒拉埋葬在迦南地幔利前的麦比拉田间的洞里。幔利就
是希伯仑。
And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Ma
chpelah before Mamre: the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan.

23:20 从此，那块田和田间的洞就藉着赫人定准归与亚伯拉罕作坟地。
And the field, and the cave that is therein, were made sure unto Abraham for
 a possession of a buryingplace by the sons of Heth.
