         encounters
Sky and earth 

vow never to meet 

horizon laughs at both 

 

Brain lectures to heart 

heart beats back 

prisoners of each other 

they live and die together 

 

Mud turns to dust 

then dust to mud 

victims of 

unrelenting change

 

The chair struggles 

to be a throne

the jug 

to become  a vase

each to be 

what it is not
