        For who would bear the whips and scorns of time,
        Th' oppressor's wrong,the proud man's contumely
        The pangs of depised love,the law's delay,
        The insolence of office,and the spurns
        That patient merit of th' unworthly takes,
        When he himself might his quietus make
        With a bare bodkin?Who would fardels bear,
        To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
        But that the dread of something after death,
        The undiscovered country,from whose bourn
        No traveller returns,puzzles the will,
        And makes us rather bear those ills we have
        Than fly to others that we know not of?
        Thus conscience does make cowards of us all,
        And thus the native hue of resolution
        Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought,
        And enterprises of great pitch and moment
        With this regard their currents turn away
        And lose the name of action.

        有谁愿意忍受人间鞭挞凌轹,
        暴君的欺压,傲岸者的藐视,
        爱不见答的悲痛,司法的延迟,
        在上的蛮横无理,在下的
        百忍却只得唾弃---
        如果人仅引一匕首
        就获解脱?有谁愿意肩负担子,
        被着沉重的生命,挥汗呻吟,
        若不是对死后有所怀疑---
        从那未被发现的王国的边陲
        从没有旅客归来---使意志迷惑,
        教我们宁忍受现有的苦楚
        也不愿奔向未知的折磨?
        这样良知使我们都变成懦夫,
        这样决心的自然色泽
        就被思想的惨淡染得苍白;
        崇隆的计划的趋向
        一旦如此易辙,计划
        就失去行动的光荣.
