The advocacy of the so-called China threat is groundless and fruitless, said
 Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Sun Yuxi Wednesday.
It has been reported recently that Dennis Blair, commander-in-chief of the P
acific Command of the United States Armed Forces, said that the military for
ces of most Asia-Pacific countries are defensive, but those of some countrie
s including China are aggressive and that China targets Taiwan.
Sun said that it has been acknowledged fact that China is an important natio
n in maintaining peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region and the worl
d.
He said that the Chinese government's stance on the Taiwan issue is consiste
nt.
He said that the U.S. is expected to observe the One-China policy and the pr
inciples of the three Sino-U.S. joint communiques,as well as to properly set
tle the Taiwan issue to help the healthy and stable development of Sino-U.S.
 relations.
