Guangdong-based Jianlibao, China's leading producer of carbonated drink, has
 been purchased by the Zhejiang International Trust & Investment Corp (ZITIC
). Tuesday.
Eighty percent of Jianlibao's stock equity, valued at 360 million yuan (43 m
illion U.S. dollars), has been sold to ZITIC.
Since Jianlibao was established 18 years ago, the total output has reached 5
.84 million tons, earning an income of 36.1 billion yuan.
More than a dozen domestic and foreign enterprises have competed to purchase
 the beverage producer. But ZITIC was chosen in order to maintain the bevera
ge as a national brand.
Zhang Hai, vice chairman of ZITIC's board of directors, said that Jianlibao 
has been ranked the first among domestic beverage products for ten years. ZI
TIC will promote the development of Jianlibao to a new stage, with technolog
ical and management innovation.
Li Jingwei, chairman of the Guangdong Jianlibao Beverage Group Corporation, 
said that ZITIC will bring about freshness to the group and push forward its
 development.
