Key developments in the war:
- Tomahawk cruise missiles targeted the Information Ministry in Baghdad, but
 the building remained standing and did not appear to have suffered any stru
ctural damage. Many of the satellite dishes on the building's roof were dama
ged, and glass from broken windows was strewn in the building's hallways.
- Group Capt. Al Lockwood, spokesman for British forces in the Gulf, said a 
British soldier was killed and five wounded in a ``friendly fire'' incident 
north of Basra. He said the incident occurred as British forces were engagin
g Iraqi troops, and a ``large number'' of coalition forces were in the area.

- Some U.S. combat units slowed their advance while supply and communication
s support is beefed up. Coalition spokesman Group Capt. Al Lockwood called i
t ``a case of shaping the battlefield, getting our troops equipped and in th
e right place for the next part of the campaign.''
- Marines battled pockets of Iraqi resistance in Nasiriyah; four Marines wit
h the 1st Expeditionary Force were reported missing. Explosions from tank fi
re, artillery and rockets fired by Cobra helicopters reverberated through th
e city of 500,000 as Marines battled to clear the main supply route north to
 Baghdad.
- Iraq's information minister said at least 58 people were killed in a crowd
ed market in northwest Baghdad by what local officials called a coalition bo
mbing. The U.S. Central Command in Qatar said it was looking into the report
.
- Iraqi state television reported that three Iraqis had been arrested for sp
ying for the United States. The televised reports alleged that the men were 
assigned to inspect areas of Baghdad that had been attacked to determine if 
they needed to be hit again.
- U.S. warplanes firing laser-guided missiles destroyed a building in Basra 
where 200 paramilitary fighters were believed to be meeting.
- Two Army helicopters, returning from an attack mission south of Baghdad, c
rashed while landing at a base the 101st Airborne Division has set up in a r
emote part of the southern Iraqi desert. Both aircraft were heavily damaged.

- A missile hit the sea and exploded near a major shopping mall in Kuwait Ci
ty early Saturday, but officials said there was little damage. Two people su
ffered minor injuries. U.S. officials said it appeared to be a Silkworm crui
se missile launched from southern Iraq.
- Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld accused Syria and Iran of meddling in
 the Iraq war and warned that both Iraqi neighbors would be held accountable
. Syria rejected Washington's claims.
