Members attending the meeting will hear an updated report by chief UN weapon
 inspectors on their search for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and furt
her discuss ways to deal with the crisis.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue says China supports the wor
k of the International Atomic Energy Agency and UN Monitoring, Verification 
and Inspection Commission. She says China advocates the political resolution
 of the Iraq issue within the framework of the United Nations.
The spokeswoman adds that a peaceful settlement of Iraq issue echoes the wis
hes of the international community as well as the Chinese people.
Zhang Qiyue also announced that Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin will com
e on a state visit to China from February 23 to 27, at the invitation of Chi
nese President Jiang Zemin.
