Tomorrow, Tuesday, when the representatives of the 88 member nations of the 
Bureau of the International Exhibitions cast their votes in Monaco, it will 
mark the culmination of the spirited competition that has been waged over th
e past several years for the right to host the 2010 World Expo. Besides Chin
a, the four other countries vying for the honour are South Korea, Russia, Po
land and Mexico. Along with the Olympics and the World Cup finals, the World
 Expo is regarded as one of the three major international mega-events. The O
lympics and the World Cup promote the unity of the global village through ph
ysical competition, whereas the World Expo is regarded as a combined Olympia
d in the fields of economy, society and culture, presenting a vision for the
 future of humanity through exchanges of science, technology and culture.
