Beijing’s third metro line, the No. 13 is to introduce an automatic card ch
ecking system from next June. Passengers will simply swipe their cards throu
gh the machines before taking the subway, thus eliminating the need for pape
r tickets.

Sources say the system is also due to be introduced to the city’s other two
 metro lines.
In future, each new line in Beijing will use the automatic ticket selling an
d checking system.
