As the operation of students exchanging plan with Hong Kong University of Sc
ience and Technology, the first group of fourteen students had got to Hong K
ong during the winter holidays.
The program of exchanging students between Hong Kong University of Science a
nd Technology and institutions of higher education of the mainland was begun
 in the last summer holidays. Selected rigidly, 106 students from Fu Dan Uni
versity, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University, University of Sc
ience and Technology of China,
Harbin Institute of Technology, Sun Yat-sen University, Nanjing University, 
and Peking University went to Hong Kong. They will study in School of Scienc
e, School of Engineering, and School of Commercial Management in the followi
ng six months. On the party, which was held to welcome the exchanging studen
ts, Professor Chen Yushu, Vice-president of Hong Kong University of Science 
and Technology wished that these students could make great progress in study
ing and get to know the Hong Kong society further.
