The Ceremony of the National Science and Technology Awards was held in the G
reat Hall of the People in Beijing on February 28. Five achievements in scie
ntific research of HIT were awarded the National Science and Technology Awar
ds in 2002. The quantity and level of the awards can be ranked in the top am
ong the universities in China.
Those who were awarded the prizes were presented at the awards ceremony.  “
Technology of Eliminating Pollutions with Permanganate Compound Pharmaceutic
s”, charged by Ma Jun and Li Guibai, received the Second Prize of the Natio
nal Science and Technology Invention. Fang Binxing and other scholars receiv
ed the First Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress. Lv Yan a
nd other scholars received the Second Prize of the National Science and Tech
nology Progress. “PC & Mobile Computer Combinative Calculation Technology”
, charged by Gao Wen, was awarded the Second Prize of the National Science a
nd Technology Progress. Zhuang Xianyi and other researchers received the Sec
ond Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress.
Jiang Zhemin, Hu Jintao, Zhu Rongji and many other leaders of the Party and 
the State were presented at the awards ceremony, which was presided by Presi
dent Hu Jintao. Vice-premier Wu Bangguo, awarded the prize to Professor Ma J
un. Vice-premier Wen Jiabao awarded the prize to Professor Fang Binxing. Li 
Changchun, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau, who is 
alumnus of HIT as well, congratulated Professor Fang Binxin, and introduced 
him and his program to Vice-premier Wen Jiabao, which received high praise f
rom Vice-premier Wen.
