标  题: The School-opening Ceremony of the Ph. D Candidat

On the afternoon February 28, the Graduate School celebrated ceremony for ne
w semester of doctoral courses in 2003 spring in the Student Recreation Cent
er. President Wang Shuguo, Vice-president Zhou Yu, Professor Qin Yukun, Ding
 Xuemei, Vice-Dean of Graduate School, and more than 400 doctoral students a
ttended the ceremony.
President Wang Shuguo introduced the brilliant history, the present situatio
n and the education idea of HIT. He urged the students to cherish time, to m
erge into the academic atmosphere of HIT, to be diligent, innovative and dev
oted. He encouraged them to value all-round development cultivation and to b
e talents as soon as possible.  Doctoral supervisors’ representative Liang 
Yingchun, from the School of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, and the 
students’ representative Lu Zhengang made speeches at the ceremony. After t
he ceremony, Professor Qin Yukun gave the first lecture on Postgraduates’ I
nnovation and Success to these new Ph. D. candidates.
