*巴基斯坦活动人士抗议穆沙拉夫解除大珐官职务

巴基斯坦成千上万法律界人士、政.治反对派成员以及其他活动人士星期二抗议穆沙
拉夫总统解除大珐官的职务。

巴基斯坦东部城市拉合尔至少有3千人抗议，许多人高喊反对政府的口号。据報导，
伊斯兰堡也发生了示威活动。

自从穆沙拉夫將军解除最高法院首席大珐官乔杜里的职务一个多星期以来，活动人士
几乎每天都会举行抗议活动。穆沙拉夫总统说，乔杜里因滥用职权而被解职。

乔杜里的支持者说，穆沙拉夫將军之所以解除这位具有独立精神的大珐官的职务，是
因为穆沙拉夫同时担任总统和武装部队最高统帅而引发的法律问题越来越迫近。

为了抗议乔杜里被解职，巴基斯坦几名法律界人士已经辞职。

Activists in Pakistan Protest Against Musharraf's Removal of Chief Justice


Thousands of members of Pakistan's legal profession, political opposition
 and other activists are demonstrating Tuesday against President Pervez Musharraf
's removal of the chief justice.

At least three thousand people, many chanting anti-government slogans, have
 gathered in Pakistan's eastern city of Lahore. Other protests are reported
 in Islamabad. 

Activists have held almost daily protests since General Musharraf suspended
 the chief justice of the Supreme Court, Iftikhar Chaudhry, more than a week
 ago. The president says Chaudhry was removed for abuse of power. 

Chaudhry's supporters say General Musharraf suspended the independent-minded
 justice because of looming legal challenges related to the president's dual
 posts as president and army chief of staff. 

Several legal professionals in Pakistan have resigned in protest of Chaudhry
's removal.


*俄罗斯哀悼日悼念灾难丧生者

星期三是俄罗斯全国哀悼日，悼念飞机失事、养老院失火和10年来最严重的矿难这三
起灾难性事件中的遇难者。至少有175人在这三起事件中不幸遇难。

在西伯利亚中部的克麦罗沃地区，救援人员继续搜寻星期一甲烷气体爆炸后下落不明
的3名矿工。这次矿难造成至少107人丧生。俄罗斯紧急情况部长绍伊古说，救援工作
还会持续三天。

俄罗斯政府保证向遇难矿工家属支付每人大约2万5千美元。克麦罗沃地区负责人说，
这笔钱將在9天内发出。

俄罗斯总统普京下令对矿难以及俄罗斯南部亚速海附近一个养老院星期二发生的火灾
展开正式调查。火灾至少造成62人丧生。

上星期六萨马拉发生空* 难，造成7人丧生。俄罗斯有关当局正在调查，看事故起因
是飞行员的过失还是由恶劣的天气。

Day of Mourning in Russia for Disaster Victims

Wednesday is a day of mourning across Russia for the victims of three disasters
 that killed at least 175 people -- a plane crash, a nursing home fire and
 the worst coal mine blast in 10 years.

In Kemerovo, in Central Siberia, the search is still on for three coal miners
 missing following Monday's methane gas explosion that killed at least 107
 people. Russian Emergency Situations Minister Sergei Shoigu says the search
-and-rescue effort could last three more days.

Families of the dead miners have been promised roughly 25-thousand dollars
 each by the Russian government. Kemerovo's regional governor says the payments
 will be dispersed in the next nine days.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has called for an official investigation
 into the mine disaster and also into Tuesday's fire that killed at least
 62 people in a nursing home near the Sea of Azov, in southern Russia. 

Authorities are looking at pilot error and bad weather as possible causes
 of Saturday's plane crash in Samara, which killed seven people.
