My Trip to Inner Mongolia
> The jeep was rolling forward towards the destination, but my heart had alrea
dy flown out to the wilderness that knew no bounds.
> Situated in the bosom of gray mountains, the Swan Lake remains a shy virgin,
waiting for me to recover her mysterious veils. The water now seemed to be ti
nged with a golden hue bathed in the velvet-like dusk. The waves came up and r
eceded, softly patting the sands and stones, perching on which were some lakes
singing swift and merrily.
> Standing silently on the little hill, I regaled my eyes with the placidity t
hat knew itself best in this utopian retreat.
> On my left, a flock of sheep were grazing leisurely at the verdant meadow, w
hile a 'moo' from a dappled cow added much color to the peacefulness. Here and
there, some yellow wild flowers had emerged out of the land claiming their in
dependence in the whole New World.
> The snow-white clouds were scurrying each other against the leaden sky. A ra
inbow hung over the valleys, connecting the misty horizon with the low sky, un
der, which the windmills were revolving slowly.
> After supper, I stepped out of the tent Night had fallen on. All around me w
as in silence. Suddenly, the unfathomable sky, the flickering stars and the ex
tinct volcanoes in the far seemed to bring me back to that Mongolian era burie
d in the memory's dust. I heard the horning of the bugle, the tramping of hoof
s and the rattle of chariots. I saw the chilling swords, the dauntless soldier
s and the martyr khan. That chapter of history was revived before my eyes.
> That night, I had a dream: I became an immortal warrior of the grassland.
