网友Wang: 在上一些外国的FORUM时总是看到贴子的前面有个THREAD, 这里面的thread是什
么意思呢？是不是指话题的意思？有没有确切的翻译？

Dr.eye: Thread作一个计算机术语而言有两个含义: 

1. A portion of a program that can run independently of and concurrently with 
other portions of the program. 2. A set of posts on a newsgroup, composed of 
an initial post about a topic and all responses to it. 

译为中文即1. 线程、线索；2.（在公告板上讨论的）话题，题材。

例如BBS上的thread starter 就是“话题发起人”的意思。
