a lot
A lot is always two words, used informally to mean "many".
Alot is a common misspelling.
among, between
In general, among is used for relationships involving more than two
people or things. Between is used for relationships involving only
two or for comparing one thing to a group to which it belongs.
The four of them agreed among themselves that the choice was between
New York and Los Angeles.
amongst
Although common in British English, in American English amongst is an
overrefined substitue for among.
