straight A's

Definition: A perfect academic record; excellent grades in school.

Example: 1) Wow, you really worked hard this semester. You got straight A's 
in all your classes!

Etymology: 'A' is usually the highest grade you can get on a test, and 'stra
ight A's' means you have a long line of A grades, all in a row.
