break a leg
Definition: Best wishes; good luck.
Example: 1) I hope your performance goes well. Break a leg!
Etymology: The phrase comes from the theater, where actors would try to creat
e good luck by asking for bad luck. 'Break a leg' seems to be a cruel thing to
say, but it means the opposite of what it appears to mean.
Synonyms: knock 'em dead
