Definition: To be wildly enthusiastic. 

Example: 1) Alaine went bananas over the new shoes from Manolo Blahnik. I thin
k she bought five pairs!  

Definition: To be irrational and wild; to lose control. 

Example: 1) I knew Joe would go bananas when he found out he's not getting a r
aise this year.  

Etymology: When apes are given a bunch of bananas, they eat them with tremendo
us enthusiasm, as though they've lost their minds.
 
Synonyms: go crazy, bonkers
