 shades

Definition: Sunglasses; tinted eyeglasses.

Example: 1) Nice shades! They make you look like Tom Cruise.
         2) Rich likes his shades so much that he even wears them at night.

Etymology: 'Shade' is the darkness created by something blocking the sun. Th
e use of the word to refer to sunglasses goes back to jazz musicians in the 
1950s.
