in cahoots
Definition: In a partnership, with an implication of criminality; working to
gether on secret plans.
Example: 1) I'm afraid our accountant may be in cahoots with the local crime
boss.
Etymology: This phrase was in use by the early 1820s. It may derive from the
French word for cabin, 'cahute' -- and thus refer to people planning someth
ing in a small cabin or house, beyond observation.
