Definition: To suddenly become clear or apparent; to understand after a period
of confusion.
Example: 1) It finally dawned on Peter that it's easier to pass a test when yo
u've done your assignments beforehand.
2) Has it dawned on you yet that you need to start looking for a job?
Etymology: 'Dawn' is the time when the sun rises, bringing light to the world.
When something 'dawns on' you, it becomes clear with the light of understandi
ng.
