out like a light
Definition: To fall asleep very quickly.
Example: 1) After working a twelve hour shift yesterday, I was out like a ligh
t as soon as I got into bed.
Etymology: A lamp goes out as soon as you turn it off. So if you are 'out' (as
leep) like a light (lamp or light bulb), you have gone to sleep as soon as you
r head hit the pillow.
