well, i am the man who really loves coffee. yesterday, i visited one of my goo
d friend. he recently bought a new coffee machine, which costed him over 20000
dollars. anyway, he can afford it cause he is a big restaurant owner. he is s
o happy to see me and decide to offer me a coffee. (i guess he just want to sh
ow off his new coffee machine.) so he passed me a menu. surprisely, i found th
ere are some kind of coffees i had never tasted before. and because now they a
re free, (thanks to my friend and his coffee machine) i told my friend i want
to have “this, this, this, this, and this“. hehe, he looked at me and i can
see the question “are you sure?“ from his eyes. but he said nothing but “OK
“. while he was making me the coffee, i had a chance to write down all the me
anings of them. and now, for u, the coffee lover, here they are:
espresso: a single shot of espresso, also known as a “short black“, topp
ed with a rich golden crema in a demitasse cup.
long black: in a regular cup, top a shot of espresso with hot water for fu
ll bodied flavour without bitterness.
affogato: pour a shot of hot espresso coffee over a scoop of cold vanilla
ice cream and serve in a cup. (this is nice in summer.)
long macchiato: espresso coffee in a regular sized glass or cup, then it i
s up to you, a dash of cold milk, warm milk or froth.
short macchiato: the choice is yours. a dash of cold milk, warm milk or fr
oth, combine with a shot of espresso in a small galss or demitasse cup.
caffe latte: top a shot of espresso with steamed milk, cap off with froth
and serve in a glass.
cappuccino: combine 1/3 espresso coffee with 2/3 frothed milk in a cuppucc
ino cup and sprinkle with chocolate or cinnamon to taste. (this is a polular o
ne.)
mocha: a heaped teaspoon of chocolate powder and a shot of espresso in a g
lass, topped with frothed milk and sprinkled with chocolate.
iced coffee: add a shot of espresso to ice cream, ice and cold milk in a t
all glass. sweeten with vanilla syrup and top with whipped cream and chocolate
shaving. (well, i am in diet... -_-...)
doppio: a double hit of espresso with a rich golden crema in a demitasse c
up. (wow!)
ristretto: short on size but twice the taste---a double strength espresso
topped with a rich golden crema. (WOW!!!)
corretto: a short black for a long night with a shot of brandy, frangelico
, or galliano, in a demitasse cup.
well, that is all. i think all of them are from italy. of course, there ar
e other different kind of methods of making coffees around the world. if u kno
w, why dont u share with us? ^_^
btw, i think after tommorrow dinner, i will go and visit my friend again.
hehehe. cause the new coffee machine DO make good coffees!
