he loved life more than he had ever before. Not just his life, 
anybody's life, my life." 
 
Ridley Scott's powerfully bleak vision of twenty-first-century Los 
Angeles has influenced almost every science-fiction film made since. 
Syd Mead and Lawrence G. Paull's production design evokes the noir 
films of the forties in this world of perpetual rain, ubiquitous neon 
ads, and multiracial crowds--the detritus of humanity left on a ruined 
Earth. As a reluctant "blade runner," Harrison Ford must kill escaped 
replicants--angry genetically engineered slaves. David and Janet 
Peoples' script--based on the legendary Philip K. Dick novel Do 
Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?--has much to say about 
self-identity, fate, and what it means to be human. Vangelis's dreamy
