A breathtaking tour de force of cinematic storytelling, Alfred 
Hitchcock's Rear Window unfolds with inexorable logic as one of the 
most gripping thrillers ever made. Keeping the audience almost 
entirely within the point of view of a wheelchair-bound photographer 
played by James Stewart, Hitchcock creates an intricate panorama of 
miniature story lines in the apartments visible from his protagonist's 
window. When Stewart becomes convinced one of his neighbors is a 
murderer, his Peeping Tom habits almost end his own life and that of 
his fianc閑 (Grace Kelly). Rear Window is Hitchcock's most reflexive 
meditation on the principles of editing and story construction, as 
well as on the moral dilemma of the passive spectator. --Joseph
