Rebel Without a Cause 
 
Drama, 1955: 111 minutes 
A Warner Bros. Pictures Release 
 
       "I want answers now. I'm not interested in what I'll understand 
ten years from now." 
 
Though it feels dated today, this tale of teen angst and alienation 
remains one of the best movies ever made about misunderstood youth. 
Fifties icon James Dean stars as a teenager groping for love from a 
family and a society he finds unresponsive and oppressive. Although 
the weakling father and domineering mother are presented as little 
more than caricatures, the emotions of the anguished kids ring true. 
In his second screen appearance (following East of Eden) Dean 
electrified audiences. Eerily, all three of the film's young 
stars--Dean, Natalie Wood, and Sal Mineo--died prematurely and
