The Piano

A film of transcendent beauty and passion. A nineteenth-century 
arranged marriage takes a headstrong Scottish woman (Holly Hunter in 
an Oscar-winning performance) and her equally willful daughter (Anna 
Paquin, who picked up another Oscar) to New Zealand. Mute by choice, 
Ada expresses herself through her beloved piano, something her husband 
(Sam Neill), who refuses to cart the piano up to his house, does not 
understand. A neighboring settler (Harvey Keitel, as a very rough hewn 
romantic) rescues the instrument from the beach and begins a strange, 
erotically charged affair with Ada. Image and emotion are perfectly 
fused in this bewitching love story. Stuart Dryburgh's cinematography
