A MGM/UA Pictures Release 
 
       "Lawyers should never marry other lawyers." 
 
Perhaps the best of M-G-M's fabled Spencer Tracy-Katharine Hepburn 
vehicles, this film elevates banter between the sexes to an art form. 
Tracy and Hepburn play a couple of lawyers ostensibly happily married 
to each other. But when their newest clients turn out to be on 
opposite sides of an attempted murder case--Tracy taking the husband's 
side, Hepburn, the wife's--it's their union that suffers. Director 
George Cukor's camera loves his principals, yet he brings out the best 
in the supporting cast as well. The pic's hilarious Ruth Gordon-Garson 
Kanin script was Oscar-nominated for good reason. --David Mermelstein
