It Happened One Night

       "Let's get something straightened out right now. If you've got 
any peculiar ideas that I'm interested in you, forget it. You're just 
a headline to me." 
 
The film that made Frank Capra famous is a gem of a screwball comedy, 
and it was the first film to sweep all five major Oscar categories. 
Fleeing her rich father, Ellie Andrews (Claudette Colbert) meets up 
with a down-on-his-luck reporter, Peter Warne (Clark Gable). The two 
team up with exquisite comic results and more than a bit of romance. 
Filled with a host of bits engraved on the popular imagination (the 
famous hitchhiking scene, for instance), this picture remains one of 
the best in its genre for good reason. The chemistry between Colbert 
and Gable works wonderfully, with Capra's cameras clearly loving both
