Bob Marley(鲍勃·马利)是牙买加的民族英雄。
经典之作《No Woman No Cry》(不,女人不要哭泣)。

1.Babylon By Bus (Release Date: 1978 / Reissued: 2001 )
In 1978, the increasing global popularity of Marley's music was reflected by B
ob Marley and The Wailers' first World Tour. With the positive reception of Li
ve! among rock fans, it was felt that another live album would open up an even
bigger audience. Capturing the magic of a Bob Marley and The Wailers live per
formance, Babylon By Bus features The Wailers' June 1978 show at the Pavilion
in Paris and other performances across Europe.

2.Burnin'
Burnin' was the first completely unique musical offering to arrive in record s
tores since the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. The Beatles' a
lbum had generated considerable outrage in the straight world because of its a
pparent endorsement of LSD ("Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds").
But that was a mild snit compared to the underground furor set off by the rele
ase of Burnin'. On the back cover of the Burnin' LP was a photo of Bob, dreadl
ocks ta raas, drawing on a spliff as big as an ice cream cone.
The bonus tracks, recorded during the album's sessions, are the previously unr
eleased "No Sympathy" and "The Oppressed Song," plus the b-side only "Reincarn
ated Soul."
3.Catch A Fire:
Deluxe Edition (Island/UME) is a unique two-CD set featuring the U.K. remixed
and overdubbed album -- the album released to the public -- plus the original,
previously unreleased, version of the album recorded in Jamaica in 1972, incl
uding two songs not heard on the other CD. Both discs have been newly remaster
ed; the rare Jamaican versions have been newly remixed by noted Bob Marley and
the Wailers engineer Errol Brown.
The "Catch A Fire: The Jamaican Versions" CD reveals, for the first time, mixe
s of 11 tracks as they were completed by the Wailers in Jamaica. In these vers
ions, the music has the same simplicity and directness that marked the records
they were releasing for domestic (Jamaican) consumption on Marley's own Tuff
Gong label.

4.Chant Down Babylon (Release Date: November 16, 1999)
"Chant Down Babylon" is a very special remix project lead by Stephen Marley. T
he album features original Bob vocal tracks with guest artists bringing their
own style and flavor to the table, remixed by Stephen.
Reggae riddims grooving with layers of hip-hop beats and varied textures from
guest artists such as Lauryn Hill, RaKim, and Lost Boyz alongside Bob's voice.
The results are compelling, fresh, and intelligent. "Chant Down Babylon" real
izes Bob's dream of reaching the urban youth of America - something he wasn't
able to accomplish during his career.
5.Confrontation
Like many of Bob's records of the late 1970s, Confrontation contained songs th
at had reached maturity in an utterly casual creative atmosphere. The serenity
of so many of the selections on Confrontation came as something of a surprise
to many close to Bob.
The quiet passion so apparent in the studio proved even stronger on record as
its deeper purpose was revealed: songs like "I Know" owe their magnetism to th
e honesty of the self-doubt revealed, Bob confronting the presence of good and
evil inside his own soul.
The CD has been 24 bit digitally remastered from the original analog master ta
pes and packaging has been upgraded to include complete original album graphic
s as well as complete lyrics and photos. As a bonus, the seven minute "Buffalo
Soldier (12" mix)" has been added to this release.
6.dreams of freedom(Release Date: September 23, 1997 )
Dub instrumental mixes have been a staple of reggae music since the late '60s,
with producers Osbourne "King Tubby" Ruddock and Lee "Scratch" Perry paving t
he way with the "dub style," accentuating the low end of the bass and drums an
d using studio atmospherics like reverb, flange, and delay to give the music a
liquid, tranced-out quality.
Producer and Axiom label founder Bill Laswell draws from the dub style and mor
e, including ethnic and electronic ambient sources, to create a dreamlike sett
ing for eleven Wailers classics including a previously unreleased take of "So
Much Trouble In The World" from the Survival sessions, and other milestones.
"Everyone understands Bob Marley as an international icon -- as a rebel, a rev
olutionary, a mystic," Laswell notes, "which is important, definitely, because
he is all these things, as well as a songwriter and composer. He also had an
ability to assemble great talent -- musicians like Family Man and Carly (Barre
tt) -- to make some really incredible records. I wanted this to sound as if so
meone had dreamed it (hence the title), where the music is there kind of float
ing beneath the surface of your consciousness. In the dream the songs themselv
es aren't quite fully formed, but the rhythms and melodies make the statement.
"
This historic record represents both a nostalgic look back and a future look f
orward at the music of Bob Marley and the Wailers and promises to re-establish
the importance of Bob Marley in an entirely new area of modern music. "This w
as part of my inspiration," says Laswell, "as well as to maintian respect for
the overall feel and spirit of the music. Bob Marley is a messenger, an exampl
e, a leader, a freedom fighter, a legend who has grown since his death into an
icon to inspire generations to come."
7.Exodus
Following the assassination attempt in December 1976, Bob and Neville Garrick
left Jamaica for Compass Point in the Bahamas, then onto England.
Bob was on a creative high, as though the shooting had only strengthened his r
esolve; Bob was also now working closely with Tyrone Downie who was becoming m
ore prominent as the group arranger than Family Man had been. By the end of Fe
bruary Bob was ready to lay the tracks down and the group moved to Basing Stre
et to record. Songs had flown out of these sessions, many of them inspired by
events around the shooting. The new album was to be called Exodus, decreed Bob
, even though that was one of the only songs he hadn't yet written.
It has been nearly twenty five years since Bob Marley gave us the gift of Exod
us, and album so magnificent in scope that Time magazine named it the album of
the century. "Every song is a classic, from the message of love to the anthem
of revolution," Time wrote of Exodus. "But more than that, the album is a pol
itical and cultural nexus, drawing inspiration from the Third World and then g
iving voice to it the world over."
8.GOLD
During Bob Marley's prolific stint with Island Records, Marley and his band th
e Wailers released thirteen classic albums that played a key role in exposing
reggae to a global audience. At the time of his death on May 11, 1981 at the a
ge of 36, Marley had already become one of the world's most beloved and influe
ntial musicians. While it's tempting to speculate about what else he might hav
e achieved had he lived, the body of work that he left behind is rich enough t
o justify several lifetimes.
Although his voice was silenced at the peak of its potency and creativity, Bob
Marley's influence looms as large as ever, serving as an inspiration to fans
around the world and a role model to multiple generations of younger artists.
More than two decades after his passing, Marley remains one of contemporary mu
sic's towering figures, and these songs demonstrate the timeless power of his
vision.
9.Kaya
Kaya, a collection of love songs and an homage to the powers of ganja, was rel
eased to coincide with Bob Marley and The Wailers' first world tour as well as
the 1978 One Love Peace concert. Kaya was lending itself a more commercial, l
ess driven sound than found on previous releases, to pave the way for future a
lbums like Survival.
As Bob put it, "Kaya means herb. It's a password some of the brethren use in J
A. So Kaya is really dealing with togetherness and humanity and peace, (becaus
e) the thing of peace travel through the earth now. Yes, Rastaman Vibrations a
nd Exodus were 'arder. This time we dealing with something softer."
For this remaster, "Smile Jamaica (version)" the b-side of the British single
"Satisfy My Soul," has been added.
10.legend
Bringing together timeless and universal Marley classics such as No Woman No C
ry, Get Up Stand Up, I Shot the Sheriff, and Redemption Song, Legend is a fine
introduction to the music of Bob Marley. A testament to his enduring legacy a
nd international stardom, Legend has spent an unsurpassed 64 weeks and countin
g cumulative weeks atop Billboard's Top Pop Catalogue Albums chart.
2002 Deluxe Edition is a special two disc set with the album digitally remaste
red, plus a second disc of remixes from the album.
11.live
Recorded in July 1975 at the Lyceum Ballroom in London, Live! captures a perio
d in Bob's career when his music and message were beginning to reach a broader
audience. In an era when live performance determined the status of a music gr
oup, it was no small feat that Bob Marley and The Wailers were able to express
the energy from their live shows on an album.
The set list from that night at the Lyceum was: 'Trench Town Rock', 'Slave Dri
ver', 'Burnin' and Lootin', 'Them Belly Full (But We Hungry)', 'Three O'Clock
Roadblock', 'No Woman, No Cry', 'Kinky Reggae', 'Natty Dread', 'Stir It Up', '
Lively Up Yourself', 'I Shot the Sheriff' and 'Get Up, Stand Up'. The bonus tr
ack is "Kinky Reggae," originally issued as the 1975 b-side of "No Woman, No C
ry."
12.natty dread
After Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh left to pursue their own solo careers, the b
and was renamed Bob Marley and The Wailers. To fill the harmonic void, the I-T
hree's, consisting of Bob's wife Rita, and singers Marcia Griffith and Judy Mo
watt, were recruited. At the time of its release in 1974, Natty Dread was the
Wailers' best production, making the album a must-have for reggae fans.
Lyrically, Marley passionately communicates radical ideas without compromise,
shaped by his increasing conviction in Rastafari. A wide range of themes cross
this album: the resilience of the human spirit in 'Lively Up Yourself', the t
estament of brotherhood and love in 'No Woman No Cry', and the need for social
change in 'Them Belly Full', 'Talkin' Blues' and 'Revolution.' The bonus trac
k, "Am-A-Do," from the album's sessions, was first released on 1991's Talkin'
Blues.
13.natural mystic
Release Date: 1995
Natural Mystic (The Legend Lives On) is a testimonial to the political and soc
ial side of Marley's musical legacy. LIke most popular artists, Bob Marley wro
te about sexual love, but his palette also contained the blazing yellows of a
militant spirituality; a blood-red hatred of racism, colonialism, and oppressi
on; and a sky-blue yearning for personal, artistic, political and social freed
om. These colors reflected the experiences of growing up in the poverty-strick
en crown colony of Jamaica.
Jamaica's unique cultural mixture of black pride and fundamentalist religions
set against a background of extreme economic depravation makes the island wher
e hope is as necessary an ingredient for survival as food, air and water. Marl
ey songs found on Natural Mystic (The Legend Lives On) such as "Iron Lion Zion
," "Trenchtown Rock (Live)," "One Drop," and "So Much Trouble In The World" ut
ilize a "here and now" spirituality to lift up the burdens of the sufferers.
14.one love
With 20 selections, and featuring a bonus track previously unreleased on any B
ob Marley & The Wailers album, One Love is the ultimate introduction to reggae
and Marley for the casual fan. It is also the most concise collection for the
aficionados of Marley's major label recordings ever released. Each selection
has been digitally remastered from the original two-track analog master tapes.
The rarities on One Love are the Lee "Scratch" Perry produced, Marley penned "
I Know A Place," recorded in 1977 and unavailable on any other Bob Marley & Th
e Wailers album, and the band version of Marley's "Redemption Song" (the acous
tic rendition appeared on 1980's Uprising).
Honored this year with a Lifetime Achievement Grammy, Marley was a musical, po
litical and even spiritual icon. No artist so dominated his genre in modern mu
sic as Marley has reggae. His legacy continues to prosper in the artists he in
fluenced--and his music continues to inspire new generations. To hear the scop
e and breadth of that music on one album, there is only One Love: The Very Bes
t Of Bob Marley & The Wailers.
15.Rastaman Vibration Deluxe
With this rebel record, a Dread mission statement, Marley effectively branded
the concept of the dreadlocked revolutionary Rasta. The original ghetto star's
message, his vibration, was finally felt internationally; Marley had released
his first singles (on producer Leslie Kong's Beverley's label,) as early as 1
961. Delicately rock-tinged, the tempos of Rastaman Vibration hit number eight
in America's charts soon after release, a huge breakthrough for the driven Dr
ead.
However, this deluxe edition represents an even broader sweep of Marley's expe
rience. Combining a re-mastered cut of Rastaman Vibration with rare singles mi
xes, alternate album mixes and a rare 1976 performance from LA's Roxy Club, it
s tracks span a crucial arc of Bob Marley's life and recording career: from 19
73's African Herbsman produced by dubmaster Lee 'Scratch' Perry, and Catch A F
ire, his first record for Chris Blackwell's Island label; to 1976, the year of
Rastaman Vibration and the poignant up tempo of the 'Smile Jamaica' single.
16.Rastaman Vibration
"It's not music right now, we're dealing with a message. Right now the music n
ot important, we're dealing with a message. Rastaman Vibration is more like a
dub kinda album and it's come without tampering y'know. Like 'War' or 'Rat Rac
e', the music don't take you away, it's more to listen to."
-Bob Marley, June 1976
In Rastaman Vibration, Marley's fourth studio release for Island Records, many
had felt this was Bob's clearest exposition of his Rasta convictions. The bon
us track, "Jah Live," was originally issued as a 1976 single and was penned im
miedately following reports of the purported death of His Majesty Haile Selass
ie.
17.rebel music
Bright souls often burn but briefly. So it was with Bob Marley. This compilati
on released in 1986 is a testament to a spirit that the world never tamed or c
onquered, to a man who rose from the humblest of origins to become a champion
for the downpressed everywhere.
Containing powerful anthems of defiance and rebellion, this collection illumin
ates the struggle against injustice which came to dominate Bob Marley's life a
nd work. Never animated by hatred or revenge, this rebel music shows an unshak
eable commitment to life and its glories, which are the right of all, no matte
r what the circumstances of their birth.
This newly remastered version of the best-selling thematic compilation feature
s a bonus track, the rare US single mix of "Wake Up and Live."
18.Songs of Freedom
From "Judge Not" to "Redemption Song"
Originally released in 1992 as a limited edition set, Songs of Freedom has bee
n reissued in 1999 with great anticipation. The definitive Bob Marley retrospe
ctive of 75 songs--classics and rarities--on four cds. Gathered from a lifetim
e of timeless and universal music Songs of Freedom includes previously unrelea
sed material and original recordings spanning three decades of Reggae history.
A must for any music fan.
Including tracks from the various periods of the Wailers, starting with Robert
Marley's first release in 1962, this collection contains a song for every occ
assion. The extensive liner notes cover the career of Bob Marley and the Waile
rs, and offer personal impressions from those close to the group.
19.Sun Is Shining
Palm Pictures released the Marley family endorsed version/remix of the Bob Mar
ley worldwide hit single "Sun Is Shining" on November 23, 1999.
Palm Pictures, the entertainment company founded by Chris Blackwell, released
the dance remix of "Sun Is Shining" by Bob Marley. The remix is by Ibiza All S
tars and Messy Boys.
Palm will also release on February 1, 2000, "Sun Is Shining: The Remixes" DVD
single which features two audio-visual versions of the single "Sun Is Shining"
: "The Ibiza Allstars/Island Mix", "The Messy Boys Remix", as well as an audio
only track "Island Mix - Extended Version."
20.survival
The album was at first entitled Black Survival, to underscore the urgency of A
frican unity, but shortened to avoid misperceptions of the LP's theme. Marley
originally planned to release Survival as the first part of a trilogy, followe
d by Uprising in 1980, and closing with the posthomous Confrontation (he had n
amed the LP in October 1980).
Survival was to be a laying out of the agenda for the apocalyptic battle betwe
en his brethren and Babylon, and it had all the incendiary might of a don't-lo
ok-back manifesto.
Whether exhorting the faithful to "Rise yeh mighty people!" in "Wake Up and Li
ve," or supporting revolutionary Third World struggles in "Zimbabwe," or asser
ting that "The preaching and talking is done!" in the title track, Survival wa
s a fierce call to arms.
For this release, "Ride Natty Ride" (12" mix) has been added.
21.Talkin' Blues
Talkin' Blues captures the time, in the mid-Seventies, when Bob Marley & The W
ailers took reggae into the mainstream of popular music.
Most of the tracks are from a broadcast for KSAN radio in San Francisco, the o
nly recordings from The Wailers' first American tour in 1973. Talkin' Blues al
so features four other rarities including "Am-A-Do", a 1974 recording which ha
s never before been released. The music is interspersed with extracts from a r
are Bob Marley Jamaican radio interview. In 1975 Bob Marley spoke extensively
with Demott Hussey, the doyen of Jamaica's music commentators. The two-hour in
terview, broadcast on JBC radio, came barely a month after the death of Haile
Selassie and Marley's recording of the achingly spiritual "Jah Live".
Perhaps these factors contributed to the candid quality of the interview, in w
hich Bob talked openly about Haile Selassie I, the break-up of the original Wa
ilers, his music and struggles. Brief extracts, providing a powerful adjunct t
o the music tracks, are included on Talkin' Blues.
22.Uprising
Uprising was an inspirational work, intended to offer support to the assembled
multitudes as they hastened to set their spiritual houses in order. The song
titles said it all: "Coming In from the Cold," "We and Dem," "Real Situation,"
"Work," "Zion Train" and "Redemption Song," each a solemn acknowledgment that
the campaign will be a long and grief-laden one.
The CD has been 24 bit digitally remastered from the original analog master ta
pes and packaging has been upgraded to include complete original album graphic
s as well as complete lyrics and photos. The bonus tracks "Redemption Song (ba
nd version)" and "Could You Be Loved (12" mix)" have been added.
