Nils J. Nilsson's long and rich research carreer has contributed much to AI.
His book <<Artificial Intelligence>> considered classics in the field, inc
lude Learning Machines, Problem-Solveing Meghods in AI, Logical Foundations
of AI, and Principles of AI.
Dr. Nilsson is Kumagai Professor of Engineering
, Emeritus, at Stanford University.
He has served on the editorial boards of
AI and Machine Learning and as an area editor for the Journal of the Assoc
i ation for Computing Machinery. Former chairman of the Department of Comput
er Science at Stanford and Former Director of the SRI AI Center, he is also
a past president and fellow of the American Association for Artificial Intelli
gence.
