OS SERVICES
In addition to its options for real-time scheduling and rich IPC
repertoire, LynxOS offers developers a powerful array of system
services, including IP and telephony network protocols, booting
options, file systems, multi-processing, and GUI support.
Networking and Communications
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With its UNIX/POSIX APIs, Lynx is well suited to data communications
and internetworking applications. The standard LynxOS development
tools includes a variety of IP networking services, tools and
utilities. Moreover, LynxOS users regularly leverage LynxOS openness,
porting readily available networking software to Lynx with ease.
LynxOS also powers telecommunications infrastructure, access, and
multimedia applications, with support for key telephony protocols.
TCP/IP Stack
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lynx offers its own TCP/IP stack optimized for use with LynxOS and
the multi-threaded LynxOS driver model. LynxOS TCP/IP offers:
1.High performance

3.Advanced routing algorithms
4.IP level multicasting support
5.Enhanced buffering for faster link level
Internetworking Tools
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lynx helped to pioneer the "Embedded GUI Paradigm" - leveraging
standard IP networking components (HTTP servers, browsers, etc.) in
embedded applications to implement lightweight user interfaces and
network appliances. LynxOS internetworking support includes:
1.Networking utilities like telnet, ftp, tftp, PPP and SLIP
2.Java Embedded Virtual Machine with real-time scheduling and incremental garba
3.Available Java-enabled Embeddable Spyglass Device Mosaic browser
4.Available embedded HTTP servers, including Apache, Agranat, Allegro, CNiT, Ma

Telephony Protocols

libraries, and headers for developing and porting STREAMS-based
drivers and applications.
