    夏幼南 65年出生，87年获中国科学技术大学学士学位（化学）；90年获中科院福建

物质结构研究所硕士学位，96年哈佛大学化学与生物化学系，获博士学位，师从George
M. Whitesides教授，论文题目是“Soft Lithography: Micro- and Nanofabrication
Based on Microcontact Printing and Replica Molding”。 96-97. 7做博士后研究，

97. 7起在美国华盛顿大学化学系任助理教授，他的课题组目前承担研究项目5项，经费
达32万美金。已在《Science》,《Nature》,《J. Am. Chem. Soc.》,《Adv. Mater.》
等刊物上发表了50篇论文，其中第一作者24篇，其中包括在《Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.》

及《Annu. Rev. Mater. Sci.》等重要刊物上发表了六篇特邀综述论文。文章发表后，
引用八十余次。1997年因科研成绩突出在美国1997年在美国获Dreyfus New Faculty
Award和ICI Student Award Finalist奖。主要研究领域是纳米结构材料，发明和发展了

软刻技术，使用弹性材料作为模子或印章来制作纳米及亚微米结构。夏幼南作为国际著
名的怀利（WILEY）出版公司出版的《AdvancedMaterials》编委，2001年首次组织出版
了《AdvancedMaterials》（中国专辑），以五星红旗为封面，集中展示了我国材料科

学前沿研究领域所取得的突出成就。

Dr. Younan Xia is a Professor of Chemistry and the Adjunct Faculty of
Materials Science & Engineering at the University of Washington in Seattle.

Dr. Xia received his Ph.D. degree in physical chemistry from Harvard
University (with Professor George M. Whitesides) in 1996, M.S. degree in
inorganic chemistry from University of Pennsylvania (with Professor Alan G.
MacDiarmid) in 1993, and B.S. degree in chemical physics from the
University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 1987.  He came to
the United States in 1991.

Dr. Xia has received a number of prestigious awards that include Camille
Dreyfus Teacher Scholar (2002), David and Lucile Packard Fellow in Science
and Engineering (2000), Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellow (2000), NSF Early
Career Development Award (2000), ACS Victor K. LaMer Award (1999), and
Camille and Henry Dreyfus New Faculty Award (1997).

Dr. Xia serves as an Associate Editor of Nano Letters and sits on the
Advisory Board of Advanced Functional Materials (2001-), Chemistry of
Materials (2005-), International Journal of Nanoscience (2004-), and
International Journal of Nanotechnology (2004-).  He has also served as the
Guest Editor of Advanced Materials four times.  He is a  member of ACS,
MRS, APS, and AAAS.
