Abstract Submission Deadlines for Authors:
Initial abstracts due: August 16, 2005 
Notice of acceptance: September 27, 2005 
Final camera ready due: November 1, 2005 
Conference: January 22-26, 2006 

Authors will be notified by e-mail on September 27, 2005. Authors' kits will b
e sent out by e-mail and will be available on the web. The preliminary confere
nce program will become available on the web soon after author notification.
Sample Abstract will be available soon.
ATTENTION PLEASE:
IEEE-MEMS conference does not accept papers published at other international c
onferences or journals. If your paper is published before November 1, 2005 at 
any international conference or journal and if it does not contain substantial
ly new information, your contribution will be withdrawn automatically. This wi
ll happen even if you have been notified about abstract acceptance before!

If your work does not exactly match with one of the keywords indicated, please
 chose the most closely related category. In ambiguous cases, the technical pr
ogram committee may assign a category according to its own judgment and in vie
w of overall program considerations.

Abstract Preparation Guidelines
For abstract submission please follow the three-step procedure as outlined:
Submit your abstract/author information to secure your Abstract Reference Numb
er. This is mandatory. By doing so you will communicate to the organizers your
 contact information and your intention to submit your work to the conference,
 and you will help us to easily identify your abstract. Subsequently, you may 
also modify and re-submit previously submitted data using the Abstract Identif
ication Number. The abstract pre-registration process will close on August 16,
 2005 at 11.59 p.m. in Honolulu, Hawaii. 
Write your abstract. The page limit is two pages. The first page should includ
e title, authors, affiliations, technical description, and word count. The sec
ond page should include figures and photographs. Contact information and refer
ences can be on either page. Back-to-back printing is requested. If not, pleas
e staple. Text on the first page should be limited to 600 words.
 
The header line of the first page should contain the Abstract Identification N
umber, the authors' preference for poster presentation (if applicable), and th
e appropriate abstract category from the list below.
 
A sample abstract will soon be available and contains further guidelines and f
ormatting suggestions. 
Print out 25 copies of the abstract. Check the printouts and in particular ver
ify that the Abstract Identification Number is correctly included. Send the pa
ckage to:

 Submit your files to https://docstore.kinkos.com/pmmi. Color copies are accep
table. Kinko's will print all 25 copies of your abstract on high-quality laser
 paper and deliver them to the conference coordinator for only 26.67 US Dollar
s. In order to ensure the quality and integrity of the printed documents, plea
se provide PRINT OPTIMIZED PDF files. Other file formats may not print accepta
bly and could cause delays.
 
International (non-USA) abstract submitters will use the following instruction
s to submit their abstracts through Kinkos. Once at the doc store web-site to 
send and print your document, please:
  
Complete step one as directed per kinko's instructions and click to continue t
o next page 
Complete step two as directed as directed per kinko's instructions and click t
o continue to cart 
Complete the form for step three by typing your name, phone and e-mail in the 
contact section. Under Payment Method - choose Pay at Store. Then click contin
ue. 
Complete the form as directed, but in special instructions state that you are 
an international submitter and give them your credit card information (credit 
card number and expiration date. This is secure.) or you can fax your credit c
ard information to 619-232-5410. For delivery method choose PICKUP AT FEDEX KI
NKO's. Then click continue. (Do not worry, they will deliver your abstract dir
ectly to the PMMI office although you have chosen the pick-up delivery method.
) 
Review the information and edit if necessary. Click Place Order. You should re
ceive an automatic response directly from Kinkos thanking you for your busines
s and giving you your confirmation number. Print this document out as you may 
need it in the future. 

Kinko's will need to receive payment before they will process your print job. 
Please make sure that you include your credit card information in the special 
instructions section or fax them the information with your name and job order 
confirmation number.
 
If you have any problems with this process, please e-mail your abstract direct

619-232-5410. If you continue to have problems, please do not hesitate to cont
act Katharine Cline (info@mems2005.org), MEMS 2006 Conference Manager at PMMI 
(1-619-232-9499) and she will be able to assist you getting your abstract subm
itted.
 
FAX or e-mail submissions of your abstract will not be accepted. The deadline 
for receipt of Abstracts is August 16, 2005. This is a firm deadline.
