The start in freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly and individual medley races sha
ll be with a dive. On the whistle from the referee the swimmers shall step on
to the starting platform and remain there. On the starter's command "take your
 marks", they shall immediately take up a starting position with at least one 
foot at the front of the starting platforms. When all swimmers are stationary,
 the starter shall give the starting signal.
The start in back stroke and medley relay races shall be from the water. At th
e referee's first whistle, the swimmers shall return without undue delay to th
e starting position. When all swimmers have assumed their starting positions, 
the starter shall give the command "take your marks". When all swimmers are st
ationary, the starter shall give the starting signal.
In the backstroke event, prior to the starting signal, the swimmers shall line
 up in the water facing the starting end, with both hands holding the starting
 grips. The feet, including the toes, shall be under the surface of the water.

自由泳、蛙泳、个人混和泳的出发方式是跳入水中出发。听到总裁判的哨声，运动员们登
上出发台，发令员发出口令“各就各位”，运动员至少一只脚踏在出发台前部做好出发预
备姿势，当所以运动员处于静止状态，发令员发出出发信号。
仰泳和混和接力泳的出发是在水中。总裁判第一声哨响，运动员迅速跳入水中。总裁判第
二声哨响，运动员必须毫无延误地返回出发位置。当所有参赛者做好出发预备姿势，发令
员发出口令“各就各位”，而当所有参赛者处于静止状态，发令员发出开始口令。
在仰泳项目中，出发信号发出之前，运动员面对出发台排成一行，双手拉住出发台的握手
器，脚趾不可露出水面。
