In a humorous word, the relation between theoretical physics and applied
physics is somewhat like the relation between dating and marriage. Theoretic
al physics is exciting and applied physics is practical but the succeed of t
he latter needs a smart sense of the former one. What I gained in PKU is jus
t both the smart sense and the practical experience on space plasma physics.
So what I want in your Plasma Physics Program is just a successful marriage
with plasma physics.
January 1, 2000 as usual, I was concentrating on debugging the computer pr
ogram and inspecting the instruments in the quiet laboratory. After a brief
examination, I switched the ignition power on. A dazzling ray of laser flash
ed, while a distinct heating curve appeared on the screen. The unfolding sce
ne brought a satisfactory smile across the face of the elder lady beside me.
It is difficult to say what is impossible, for the dream of yesterday is the
hope of today and the reality of tomorrow.
-----------Robert H. Goddurd

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by,
and that has made all the difference.
- Robert Frost-
Have you ever taken the road less traveled? When you drive home from work, d
o you ever explore? Sure, it might take longer than usual, and there may be
unpleasant stops along the way, but occasionally you will find an unexpected
surprise. By casting aside strict conventions and routines and by taking ri
sks, we can achieve things we never considered or thought possible.
I cherish my early family experience very much, for it shaped my personality
and my dream to be a successful scientist. It is my mother, a scientist of
agriculture, who stimulated my first interests in science.
In 1994,"Once you heard the song, you would never forget her...", this piece
of report set my life-long direction. Maqing an eight-year orphan with her
sweet sound moved everyone in the World Conference for the early-ageing pati
ents. According to the past cases, Maqing, my most favorite singer, died aft
er her populous concert. How I longed for lending her a hand. Then I decided
to become a doctor. However, in the next year, when my dearest grandmother
felt into ill which could not be healed in spite of the advancement of Medic
ine, this disappointment propelled me to seek the most original arcanum of l
ives--Biochemistry. I said to myself, "Lovely Maqing, Dear Grandmother, just
here, waiting for me, that is a promise."
Excited by the idea of becoming a scientist since I was a small child, my in
terests in pursuing graduate studies intensified during my undergraduate edu
cation and my research experience. Rather than discouraging me with the trem
endous amount of work and demands for creativity, my college years motivated
me to earn a Ph.D. and to continue pursuing a career as a research scientis
t. Although my exact research goals have yet to be refined, my interests inc
lude studying the genetic basis of disease and the genetic mechanisms that g
overn various
A familiar vigor grasped me the first time I read about Princeton 's graduat
e program on microelectronics. I instantly realized what my next destination
is.

它可还没有看见我;
