The Ph.D. degree requires four fields: economics (courses taken in the Economics Department), general agricultural economics,
an additional field, and an area of concentration (agricultural firm management, agricultural and trade policy, environmental and
resource economics, food and agricultural marketing, or international agricultural development).
Two M.S. degrees are offered: Plan A--minimum 31 credits with a 6-credit thesis and no minor field, and Plan B--minimum 34
credits with a 3-credit research paper and a 6-credit minor field.

The program provides students with the tools, skills and experience necessary to conduct research in Agricultural Economics.
All of our programs are founded on a strong base of economic theory and quantitative research tools. Students in AG EC take
their core courses in microeconomic theory, macroeconomic theory, and econometrics in the Economics Department. Courses
in AG EC build on this core by teaching economic theories and methods for examining natural resources and the environment,
