Because of the relevance to law of the fields of literacy study such as narratology and hermeneutics, the Department of English and the Law School introduced a mater's program in English and law in 1991. The degree combines an M.A. in the Department of
English with a minor in law. The program is open only to students already admitted to the Law School.
