The developmental psychology area focuses on theoretical, empirical, and applied aspects of development from infancy through adolescence, particularly in the areas of perceptual and cognitive development. Faculty research interests include
metacognition, resiliency, development of coping strategies and motivational beliefs in African American adolescents, space perception and spatial cognition, and motor development.

Tulane University誷 Master of Science in Applied Development is a unique program for development professionals. Courses are interdisciplinary -- taught by world class faculty trained in economics, political science, sociology, public health, education,
environmental studies, and allied subjects. The program focuses on the integrated nature of the development process and is developed around the framework of sustainable human development or SHD. The program includes, among other things, an analysis of
