The Committee on Neurobiology is the intellectual center for neuroscience at the University of Chicago. Its mission is to provide graduate training to students interested in the nervous system and to provide a forum for seminars and workshops focused
on neurobiology. Students receive a broad training in neurobiology by completing nine courses and a dissertation of original research.

eginning with the academic year 1999-2000, the University will offer a doctoral degree through the recently established Committee on Cinema and Media Studies. Part of Chicago's longstanding tradition of crossdisciplinary study, a Committee is a
degree-granting program comparable to a department; faculty, however, is drawn from various departments and disciplines."
In cases where students are interested in focusing on film and media while working toward a degree in another department or committee, the Committee offers a minor concentration in Cinema and Media Studies which could take the the form of a joint
degree or a certificate (still in discussion). A Master's degree in film studies can be pursued through the Master of Arts Program in
